100 Model Cases of the “Party Building +” Brand by China National Machinery Industry Corporation | Energy Company Party Branch: Bravely Innovate, Create High-Quality Products, and Shine the Party Building Brand

In 2023, the Party Committee of China National Machinery Industry Corporation launched the “Hundred-Thousand Project” for grassroots Party branch construction across the entire system, clearly emphasizing the importance of strengthening grassroots-level work. The project identified and cultivated more than 100 model Party branches, continuously enhancing the quality of grassroots Party building. The Party Committee of China National Air Separation Co., Ltd. actively implemented these initiatives, carefully summarized and refined its practical explorations in branch work, steadily deepened the development of its Party-building brand, and comprehensively boosted the organizational strength at the grassroots level. Among them, the Party branch of the Energy Company was recognized as a model Party branch under Sumeida’s “Hundred-Thousand Project.” Its exemplary case, “Daring to Innovate, Creating High-Quality Work, and Shining the Party-Building Brand,” was included in the “Compilation of Cases from the ‘Party Building Plus’ Brand Development Initiative of SINOMACH—Integration, Enhancement, and Empowerment.”

The Party branch of the energy company has been actively exploring innovative approaches to Party building under the new circumstances. The branch has established several Party member studios: the Jiang Wei Studio, primarily focused on technical work; the An Dongfeng Studio, centered on procurement activities; and the Zero-Carbon Ammonia Energy Innovation Studio, which responds to the nation’s “Dual Carbon Strategy.” Guided by the twelve-character ethos—“Dare to innovate, tackle tough challenges, and create high-quality work”—the branch has created the Party-building brand “Party Member Studio @ Vanguard Guardians,” inspiring Party members to consistently serve as role models and set exemplary standards. The branch has formulated tasks for Party member workstations and commitments from their leaders. While “displaying nameplates” to clearly define the tasks, responsibilities, and goals of Party member workstations, the branch has also designated Party member model posts and Party member responsibility zones in office areas and project sites, thereby ensuring that “Party members take charge of key positions and critical tasks.”

During the advancement of the Lianyungang Rongtai Phase II project—the company’s key engineering initiative—An Dongfeng’s Party Member Studio worked overtime and tirelessly, successfully completing procurement activities worth over 400 million yuan within just one year. The Party Member Commando Team took the lead in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, enabling the Rongtai project to become the first construction site under the owner’s jurisdiction to resume work and production. Meanwhile, Jiang Wei’s Party Member Studio quickly tackled two challenging tasks: liquefied petroleum gas and liquid ammonia processing. In the end, all systems of the project were successfully commissioned at the first attempt, fully demonstrating the “air separation speed.” The project also won the second prize in the comprehensive category for outstanding achievements in the surveying and design industry in Hangzhou, setting a new benchmark for petrochemical storage and transportation in the industry and contributing China National Machinery Industry Corporation’s strength to the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.

Proactively Step Up and Make Promises

The branch has launched an evaluation system for Party members’ “Pioneer Index,” implementing a practice of publicly displaying the evaluation ratings and commitments of all Party members on notice boards. By clearly and prominently showcasing their commitments, this initiative vividly highlights the positive image of “energy pioneer guardians” in the new era.

Party members of the branch actively put into practice the nation’s “Dual-Carbon Strategy” and promptly established the “Zero-Carbon Ammonia Energy” Party Member Innovation Studio. They have vigorously promoted core technology R&D and engineering demonstrations in areas such as clean energy and carbon capture. Their efforts have yielded remarkable results across multiple projects in the field of urban LNG emergency peak-shaving and balancing. The Northern Henan and Eastern Henan LNG emergency reserve center projects respectively won the Gold Award for High-Quality Petroleum Engineering in 2022 and the 2023 Petroleum Engineering Quality Award. At the maintenance site of the first-phase 20,000 m³ cryogenic ethylene storage tank at Longxiang in Nanjing, faced with a tank that might still contain residual ethylene gas, Comrade Jiang Wei volunteered to be the first to descend nearly 30 meters to the bottom of the tank, loudly proclaiming, “I’m a Party member—let me take the lead!” His actions perfectly exemplify how courage and responsibility are the strongest hallmark of a Communist Party member!

Lead the Way and Excel in Action

Led by the heads of Party member studios, and in conjunction with the key and challenging tasks of the engineering company, the pioneering vanguard members have formed numerous Party member pioneer teams and Party member assault teams. These teams have delved deeply into every corner and stage of production and operations.

In 2022, the Party Committee of China Air Separation implemented the “Party Member Innovation Project.” Once again, the heads of Party member studios took the lead and spearheaded the implementation of this project. Among them, Comrade Jiang Wei took charge of the “Research and Application of 120,000-Cubic-Meter Low-Temperature Prestressed Concrete Storage Tanks.” He worked day and night to meticulously compile the engineering quantity list for these large-scale storage tanks, providing strong technical support for the bidding process of the Rongtai Phase V project. As a result, the project was successfully awarded, setting a new record for the company’s largest single contract in recent years. During the construction phase, the Party member pioneer team made a solemn commitment and ensured that the two 120,000-cubic-meter concrete storage tanks were successfully lifted into place—a critical milestone—by September 2023. The Party branch also established a Party-building alliance with the owner and participating construction units, using joint development as a bond to jointly promote high-quality project construction.

Under the guidance of the Party-building brand, the branch has seen a significant boost in combat effectiveness, cohesion, and innovation. Whether it’s the construction of major projects, the development of key markets, or tackling critical technological challenges, we consistently see the finest figures of energy pioneers and guardians. In just six short years, the Energy Engineering Company has achieved “full coverage” in four areas within the low-temperature storage and transportation sector, with its business performance repeatedly hitting new highs. Looking ahead, the branch will continue to respond to the nation’s call, making overcoming difficulties and achieving victory a firm belief, and contributing even greater strength to “honing the strengths of China National Machinery Industry Corporation and serving the nation’s needs.”
