Today, we are launching. The second installment of the “Let the Lens Enter the Air Separation Frontline” series—“Fighting Against Time to the Last Minute: The Foundation Pouring for Fuhai Chuang’s Air Separation Cold Box Successfully Completed.”

On July 6, good news came from the construction site of the EPC general contracting project for the 70,000-unit centralized air separation and air compression unit undertaken by China Air Separation in Fujian Fuhai Chuang—concrete pouring for the fractionation tower cold box foundation was successfully completed. This marks a major breakthrough at a critical project milestone and lays a solid foundation for subsequent equipment installation and process piping construction.

As one of the core components of an air separation unit, the cold box of the fractionation tower directly affects the stable operation of the entire plant. Compared with previous projects, this concrete pour involved large-volume concrete placement, placing stringent requirements on the pouring sequence, moisture-retention curing, circulating water cooling, and temperature monitoring within the foundation. Specifically, the air separation cold box foundation was poured in a single operation lasting 11 hours—from 9:30 p.m. on July 5 to 8:30 a.m. on July 6—completing more than 760 cubic meters of concrete. The poured area covered 455.25 square meters, with a maximum thickness of 2.2 meters. Thanks to the project team’s scientific organization and meticulous management, the pouring task was successfully completed in one go with high quality, creating favorable conditions for the subsequent lifting and installation of the cold box.

As the general contractor for the project, the China Air Separation Project team has fully leveraged its integrated design, procurement, and construction advantages, deeply engaging throughout the entire process—from scheme review and construction briefing to ongoing supervision. The Party member task force has taken the lead in tackling tough challenges, coordinating closely with technical experts and construction units to rigorously oversee critical stages such as foundation treatment, rebar tying, and formwork support, ensuring that construction quality meets the design specifications. In addition, through regular project meetings and special coordination sessions, the project team has efficiently addressed difficult issues during construction, demonstrating a high sense of responsibility and professional management capabilities.

Faced with the sustained high temperatures and humid, sweltering climate since the onset of summer locally, as well as the challenges posed by tight schedules and heavy workloads, the project team took the lead in working overtime and staying steadfastly on the construction front lines. They coordinated resource allocation, supervised the implementation of safety measures, and launched a series of “Delivering Coolness” initiatives. Through these concrete actions, they inspired all participating personnel, injected momentum into the efficient advancement of the project, and ensured the successful completion of the concrete pouring operations.

The successful completion of the cold box foundation for this fractionation tower marks an important milestone in Fujian Fuhai Chuang’s 70,000-unit centralized air separation and air compression project as it moves closer to its production target. Moving forward, the project team will continue to advance subsequent work with high standards and stringent requirements, ensuring that the project is completed on time and to the highest quality, thereby providing fresh impetus for boosting the company’s high-quality development and accelerating the construction of a world-class green and eco-friendly petrochemical base!
