The 55th World Environment Day has arrived as scheduled, with China’s theme being “Comprehensive Green Transformation, Jointly Building a Beautiful China.” Upholding the environmental mission of a central state‑owned enterprise, CNASEC has long been committed to environmental protection and water management, leveraging its outstanding technological expertise to deliver model ecological projects and build robust, end‑to‑end environmental service capabilities. In 2026, the company established a dedicated green‑transformation task force to pioneer a new “smart + low‑carbon” approach to water treatment. Currently, construction is in full swing on the benchmark upgrade project for Wuzhong City’s Third Wastewater Treatment Plant—Section 8, the Smart Water Plant—and we take this opportunity to explore the practical achievements of digital water management in safeguarding the Yellow River’s ecosystem.

Anchor on Green and Low-Carbon Development, Strengthen the Ecological Defense Line
The project is located along the Yellow River in Wuzhong, Ningxia, in a critical zone for ecological protection of the river. It shoulders the important mission of improving water quality and controlling pollution while reducing carbon emissions within the basin. The scope of construction encompasses a plant-wide smart management platform, automated instrumentation, and complete process packages, among other components.
Guided by the nation’s dual carbon goals, China’s green transformation task force for air separation is firmly committed to the core principles of green and low‑carbon development and ecological security, accelerating the implementation and construction of projects. Since the beginning of this year, the team has repeatedly collaborated with project owners to conduct technical workshops, benchmarking against leading domestic low‑carbon water treatment plants and relevant standards, and refining solutions based on the existing conditions of the plant site to fully integrate green and low‑carbon concepts. At the same time, throughout the entire project lifecycle, stringent safety‑production standards are rigorously enforced, and a new “smart + low‑carbon” approach to water management is being deployed to safeguard the Yellow River’s water quality and strengthen the region’s green ecological barrier.

Implementing the intelligent system to achieve refined management and control.

The project leverages technological innovation to upgrade and enhance conventional environmental protection facilities, establishing a digital twin–based automated control architecture that integrates three core modules: precise aeration, intelligent chemical dosing, and smart sludge removal. It builds an intelligent management system that combines comprehensive sensing, advanced analytics, data‑driven decision‑making, and precision control, enabling fine‑grained operational management of wastewater treatment. This approach significantly improves plant efficiency, treatment accuracy, and operational stability, while reducing carbon emissions, there by advancing the dual‑pronged implementation of smart technologies and green, low‑carbon practices.
As China embarks on a new journey toward green development, CNASEC will continue to strengthen technological innovation, accelerate project construction to high standards, and explore new models that integrate smart water management with green, low‑carbon practices. The company is committed to building a benchmark for green, low‑carbon, and intelligent water treatment plants, there by making sustained contributions as a central state‑owned enterprise to achieving the nation’s “dual carbon” goals and advancing the vision of a Beautiful China.
